Dryland Mushing Training

Dryland Mushing is a great way to give your dog controlled exercise and lots of fun. From scootering and carting, to bikejoring - it's all perfect for exercising on dry land! Before you start mushing with your furry buddy, be sure that you are considering their overall health so they have the best possible experience out there.
Dog(s) Age
Our dogs may be full of energy, but holding off on vigorous running activities until their growth plates close is best. For most young doggos this happens between 14-18 months of age!
Dog(s) Health & Fitness
Please check with your veterinarian to make sure your dog is in overall good physical health.
Each session lasts an average of 2 hours and it covers a warm-up and cool-down. The intensity of the training, will be determined based on your dog's current physical fitness and experience with moderate to high-intensity exercise.
1 - 2 Hours
Bike Introduction
Learn how to safely walk and run alongside a bike.
4 - 8 hours
Basic Commands
I first introduce "Hike!" the command to pull and "Hike! Hike!" to move faster, along with "Easy" to slow down and "Whoa" to stop.
4 - 8 Hours
Basic Commands - Part 2
Right, Left, and Go Straight: Gee, Haw, and Straight Ahead.
6 - 9 Hours
Advance Commands
"Lean Right" and "Lean Left" are commands I like to use to help the dog move between the right and left side of a trail. "On by!" is used to past distractions.
3 - 5 Hours
New Set of Wheels
During this stage, your dog will experience a new type of dryland mushing of your choosing.
